Hi Families!
RCPC Kids Care - Winter Mission Project
Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for our RGPG Kids to work together to serve others. We seek projects that they can relate to and understand how their help (care) can make a difference in the life of another person. These "mission" experiences are so beneficial as they provide a meaningful connection to scripture and what it means to serve God and others. Through frequent opportunities, and, as children develop, their ability for empathy and compassion their understanding of the word "serve" grows. Together with your/our support and guidance, they will discover what it truly means to take care of each other and to be followers of Jesus!
This winter, we will partner with the Child Life and pediatric departments at Corewell Health (Beaumont Hospital). Most children understand what it is like to be sick. They understand how special Christmas is, and can answer, how would you feel to be sick in the hospital at Christmastime? Our project will provide our children with an opportunity to help others in an age-appropriate and meaningful way.
One way we can show kindness towards others is by thinking about them and praying for them. We will be creating care packages to be delivered to kids spending Christmas in the hospital. Our care packages will include a new coloring book, crayons and pack of stickers. We will also create special notes for each bag with a feel better soon message. We plan to make the care packages and pray for these children during Sunday school.
If you would like to help us by providing coloring books, crayons and stickers for our care packages - your donations will be greatly appreciated. (All items must be new and do not need to be Christmas themed)
Please bring items to church by December 15th. There is a special basket in the Narthex for your donations.
