Check out what the kids are doing to help our community at RGPC

Happy Fall! ๐Ÿ‚

During the fall months, our RGPC Kids will be working with

our youth group and our Church and Society Committee to provide beds, sheets and pillows for children in need. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a leading nonprofit organization who believes all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to rest their heads. This mission benefits so many families. โ˜บ๏ธ

Other groups in our church will be building beds and collecting sheets for this organization. As always, it is our goal to offer service opportunities to our students that are meaningful to them. Our RGPC Kids know how it feels to have a warm, safe place to sleep each night. They can also understand how it must feel to not have a bed or a pillow to sleep on. This fall, our RGPC Kids will be working together to collect pillows for the beds that will be donated during the winter

months.

In Sunday school, we will be offering lessons and activities to help our kids learn about this special project and how their help will be a blessing to other children.

For obvious reasons, we understand kids are not able to purchase pillows on their own. However, as a family, encouraging ways children can โ€œearnโ€ money to purchase pillows is a wonderful way to bring meaning to the importance of serving others.

Some suggestions to earn money to purchase pillows:

  • Kids can create a Cider/Apple Juice stand and sell donuts and Cider (Similar to our Lemonade/Wheelchair project)
  • Children can help return bottles and cans.
  • Children can help by doing extra chores for your family, grandparents, neighbors etc..
  • If your child gets an allowance, a portion could be put towards a pillow fund.

We will be collecting queen/standard size white pillows.

Pillows may be dropped off at church to my office (Room 211) anytime in October or November. We plan to deliver the pillows the first week in December.

Finally, on October 19 th โ€“ The RGPC Kids will help serve during coffee hour. We will be serving donuts and cider and collecting donations that will be used to purchase pillows. Lots of helpers will be needed! (9:45-10:30 a.m.)

We are always better together! Your support at home will enhance our goal at church to help children follow in the footsteps of Jesus and lead them into a life of compassion and service towards others.
